What do you put in a fireproof vault and a safe deposit box?
I just reserved a safe deposit box at my bank because my father advised that I get one. At the moment, I have a fireproof box in my home with all of my important documents in it. What should I transfer to the bank? What purpose does my fireproof box serve if I have a safe deposit box? What kinds of things should I keep in each one?

- Safe deposit box: Personal papers - birth certificate, Will, important family history papers you do not need access to often but don't want lost or stolen. Home safe - valuables you want handy that you use often, but to make it difficult for a thief to get to - jewelry and emergency cash other heirlooms of great personal value to you. Keep in mind that unless the fire resistant safe is bolted to a floor, a thief can simply take the safe with him and bust it open at his leisure. Note that no safe is fireproof. They are all fire resistant - the contents will not burn up to a certain temperature rating over a certain amount of time. Lastly, if you store valuables in the safe deposit box, make sure those items are insured - either covered by your home owners policy, or through the bank. Don't ASSUME those safe deposit box items are inviolate at the bank - they are not.
- What you can put in a safety deposit box would be important papers such as Wills.,important documents such as Insurance document, buriel policies, birth certicates, Money, jewerly, coins, any thing that is of value that you cannot afford to lose in case of fire..Old pictures of family..Safety deposit boxes are very safe and is easily gotten too if needed.Another thing also is that businesses are willing to wait a day or 2 in case of emerceny, when they know you have a safety deposit box,say in case the bank is closed..It is also safe incase the bank is robbed...
