Bug Spray for luggage bags or boxes that are safe on clothes and books?

I found a baby silverfish crawling on one of my books when I was packing them in a snaptop box. Needless to say, I am now worried there are more unknown bugs hidden among my books and clothes and other things I need to pack up and bring to another location. So my question is, is there a safe spray or insect killer that I can put in my boxes and baggage before I seal them up and move? I don't wan't to bring insects with me to my new apartment and home.

  1. why don't you just bug bomb where there at now and then move them.
  2. Talk to your local pest control office. Also try moth balls.
  3. Buy normal spray that doesnt have the irritant sign on the can or bottle. Irritant sign: a black cross in a square
  4. Personally, I would call an exterminator. You are much better off with a professional in a case like this.
  5. try fabric softener sheets they supposedly keep insects and pests away from stored items, as well as making them smell better
  6. you could try powdered sulpher from chemists or sme strong smelling soaps for your boxes
  7. There are spacesaving bags that you can buy. You put your stuff in the bag, take out the air and all of your things are lvacuum sealed and safe from bugs, water, etc. They really work & take up alot less space than boxes.
  8. try bay leaves wraped in cheese cloth
  9. Bugs love cardboard, so, if your things have been stored in cardboard boxes, there are bound to be a few. Try to re-pack into plastic, seal-able totes. Go through all your items before you pack them; silverfish usually come up through pipes, looking for water. If you are moving into an apartment, ask they use an exterminator service before you move in. If a home, have one come out before moving in and unpacking. If you can do neither, use Ortho's Home Defense; it lasts up to four months, around the interior and exterior of your home or apartment. That way, if the bugs move with you, if they come out, they'll be dead in no time!
