is it safe to give my haster a plastic cup?
my syrian hamster has an incredible hatred for cardboard, any kind of tubes or boxes i place in her cage she will just chew at it 3 or 4 times and leave it alone. so I decided to put in a plastic cup for her to call home sweet home. She apperently seems to like it and has been fixing up with her toilet paper and bedding its really think plastic and umm i tried to chew on it and failed miserably soo umm do you think its safe?

- No do not use plastic because if she swallows it then her stomach will become enlarged and it could make her liver break down and she would die.
- Plastic is not safe. Try a glass jar instead.
- I'm sorry to say but if you love your hamster, you wouldn't.
- No, Don't. Try a glass jar instead, or one of the habitrail houses, it doesn't even have to be attached to the tubes. Try a kleenex box with the platic removed. She'll take her fluff and shavings into it and sleep. Voila, one happy hamster. :)
- No plastic of any kind
- Don't give your hamster anything plastic. If it swallows the plastic it could get sick and die. Especially if it swallows a sharp piece. Put in a wood chew. It gives them something to chew on and keeps their teeth from getting overgrown. My hamster loves her.
