Is it safe to travel with a digital SLR?
I'm going to Europe this summer, and i love taking pictures, but i'm scared of taking my Nikon D70, what are the chances of it getting stolen? i'd be careful with it, but i also don't want to have to worry about it all the time on my trip..any help? I'm going to germany, paris, and london. What if i stay in a hostel? would someone take it there?

- Where are you going?
- Wear it around your shoulder always. And dont hand over your camera to anybody to take pictures of you.
- that is totally okay. nobody would grab it from your neck in broad daylight in europe.
- Just keep it around your neck and you should be fine. You have as much of a chance of it getting stolen in Europe than you do in any big city in the States. I've taken my digital camera everywhere and have never had a problem. Just be aware of your surroundings; especially in Rome. All of the cities that you are staying at have about the same rate of crime. You should never leave anything valuable in a hostel. I usually leave my clothes there, but nothing else.
- no worries there are milion of tourists that cary cameras around. and if you are going into a hostel, they usually have some place where you can lock your valuable stuff.
- I guess Germany, Paris and London should be fine as long as you're careful. But if you do step into Spain's bigger cities, watch out!
- Try a cheaper and more compact model. One where its loss will not grieve you. And still takes great pics.
