Is it safe to use Remote Assistance on your home computer?

Remote Assistance is a convenient way for a friend in another location to connect to your computer from another computer running a compatible operating system, such as Microsoft Windows XP, and walk you through your solution. I just want to know if this is a good idea or should I disable it on my home computer?

  1. you can safely disable it. If you do want to help someone out with Remote Assistance or let someone help you... I suggest you use the Free Version of Logmein... http://www.logmein.com/
  2. if ur using 1 from your provider then yes its safe never get 1 of the internet with out cheking it for keylogers
  3. generally it is safe, when using the remote assistance no action can occur on your computer without your consent but still people wonder about a potential for a security breach with Remote Assistance. this tool could give them complete power of a remote computer so they could change, steal, or destroy whatever they like. The inherent technology of the remote connection itself is safe, however. There's no chance that a cyber-roving cracker is going to overtake your expert's live connection to your computer. But if a cracker gets the invitation from the beginning of the process, you're in trouble. Remote Assistance has several built-in security features that help protect you, but they're only as effective as you make them. and make sure to use the expiration option.
