I would have to say no, but if the two are linked, you might be able to recover it. I would contact the police, otherwise you should unlink the desktop with the laptop.
linked how? remote access? you can probably disallow this on your home computer. if it's through the network or internet, you can just take it off those connections.
Wireless? They would have to be parked outside to link with your home PC, and the PC would have to be on. So keep the PC turned off, and look for when the lap top links in with the PC. if you have remote access on your lap top from the PC it don't ,matter how far away the thief took the lap top they can still connect to you r PC you need to turn off the remote assistance on your PC
