How do you block adult sites from your home computer?

Is there any free softwares or downloads that I can do? to make it safe for my kids to use the internet? Or do I have to buy those products? If yes where? I dont like to order things online?

1. Check with your internet service provider, some of them offer free parental controls. I know yahoo does.
2. you can buy parental controls at local stores such as Best Buy or Fry's. Titles are Yahoo Parental Controls (must be downloaded) Webroot's Child SAfe
