Fullmetal Alchemist for PS2: Is this a safe game for kids?

My 10 year old stepson brought this game home this past weekend. His mom had bought it for him, I'd never heard of it but apparently when he stays with her and her husband he watches it on Adult Swim (which freaks me out b/c it's so late AND duh! for Adults <sigh>) Anyway, all day Monday he was glued to it and had a really bad attitude problem. Finally at supper we'd had enough of the scowling and smart mouthing and sent him to bed, took away the game for 24 hrs. Tuesday he was a different kid. I know it wasn't all the game, he had probably not been getting enough rest at his mom's and he was also getting a cold which may have made him feel like snapping at people. But I did notice that when the game wasn't an option he was playing outside, laughing and acting like a kid again. With the games he has here he naturally balances playing them with doing other things. It concerns me how addicted he seemed to this. The review of the series seems VERY adult and dark w/ occult and Nazi themes?

  1. no,its a good game.and there not nazis.not like it has pr0n in it or something
  2. Since you said that it is a game for PS2, I am assuming the game title is Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel. There are no Nazi themes in Full metal Alchemist. The only thing even remotely dark in the game is Alchemy, even then that isn't dark, its just an early form of the investigation of nature and an early philosophical and spiritual discipline, both combining elements of chemistry, metallurgy, physics, medicine, astrology, semiotics, mysticism, spiritualism, and art. I honestly see nothing wrong with the game. If you feel worried about how he acts when playing the game, why not set a specific time limit? Like 15 minutes a day, and then he has to go out and play.
  3. I like the show but the 2nd game not so much but anyway i think that sitting in front of a tv for hours on end is unhealthy so a time limit for the game may help
