Is it safe to carry a digital camera in your pocket?

I'm going to a festival tomorrow and taking my camera, is it safe to keep it in your front pocket? What else do you suggest and where could get hold of it?

1. I keep them in my pocket... sometimes I keep it in a camera holster/case.
2. It is as safe as carrying anything this day in your pocket.....if you value it than always take the precaution of carrying it safetly.....like an inside pocket with a zipper or button....or you could have the camera in a small bag with a zipper hung it around your body...like an undercover police carrying their gun (in TV)..inside your shirt .....etc better safe than sorry
3. i think the proper way to carry it is hanging on a chain from the ring in your nose.
4. can you get one of those neck strings that people use for mp3 players, security passes, etc. That way you can keep it in front and it won't go wandering, get lost or damaged
5. I carried my Digital IXUS 70 in my pocket all the way to the top of Kilimanjaro. I never had any problems. Superb camera.
6. Aint nothing safe at a festival. I lost an earring, £40 & my keys at Reading last year.
