Are the urine home pregnancy tests different than the ones you get at the doctors office?
I'm late getting my period by almost a week, so I went and got a pregnancy test done at a doctors office. I've never actually had sex but was just wanting to be safe, cuz my bf and I do fool around but no intercourse. Luckily the test was negative, which was good to hear. But I'm still worried I've never not gotten my period late, I'm usually really on time. I asked the doctor why it might late and he just said stress, diet, loss or gaining of weight and sent me on my way. I'm just worried that I could be pregnant and the test could have been wrong, or that it's something more serious. Any ideas? It wasn't a blood test I took, just a urine test.

- HOME PREGNANCY TESTS ARE THE SAME AS THE ONES OFFERED AT THE MD'S OFFICE UNLESS THEY DO BLOOD WORK..GOOD LUCK
- the pregnancy test at the doctor's office is very accurate. here is how it works. When you are pregnant your body produces a hormone called hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin). They introduce a substance into your sample that sticks to that hormone, like a little magnet, so they can see if that hormone is there. What kind of fooling around do you do? Only direct contact with semen into the vagina can cause pregnancy. If you are worried in the future, ask your boyfriend to wash his hands if they have semen on them before he touches you. I recommend that you go to the library and do some reading about sex and anatomy, so you have a better understanding on pregnancy. Try to relax and take a bath, or go out with your friends. The more you worry about not getting your period, the later it can come because of stress. side note : Home pregnancy tests are not the same. Some studies have shown cheaper brands to give false ratings up to 45% of the time (even good ones up 15%). When in doubt consult a physician or a sexual health clinic.
- * Doctor Offices use the same ones that you can buy from All-a-Dollar! They are exactly the same and I have asked my doctor too and he said that they buy them from the same company that All-a-Dollar does! Blood tests are more accurate When was it that you played around? I'm asking because it really matters when it was that you might have had sperm get in you. If it was a week and a half or less before your period. the only way to find out if your pregnant is with a Blood Test. If it was a few weeks or more before you start Then you could take a Urine test to find out However those can be wrong sometimes. Did you take the test with your first pee in the morning? Or was it in the afternoon? Cause that can effect the results of the test. But by the sounds I don't think you would be pregnant. You sound young and When I was in my teens I was constantly missing my periods. However if after a month of not getting a period I would go back into your doctor and ask them about birth control to help regulate your periods if your not pregnant! You can take birth control even if your not sexually active! Good Luck and I wish you all the best!
- Home pregnancy tests are the same and work just as well. plus most doctors I know don't do the test and just draw bloodwork. If you still had doubt tell your gyno you want a blood test just to make sure. Good luck
- there the same.
- You should not worry it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant if you only fooled around not inpossible as sperm can live outside the body briefly and be carried into the body but like I say highly unlikely, Saying that the kits you buy are very much the same as what the doctor does recording changes in hormones, Periods can be late and funnyly enough one of the main resones for this can be worry is that you may be pregnant,
- YES
