Young family looking to rent nice, safe family home in Melbourne close to amenities/transport, etc?

My partner is in Melbourne, based out of an office in Broadmeadows, but will be field based mostly all over Melbourne. We need to rent a family home and the pressure is on to find somewhere quick!! We love the look of Sanctary Lakes, can anyone give us an idea of what this place is like, and also suggest other areas that might be suitable for us. We have a one year old son, and whilst my partner is at work I will not have a car, so need to be able to keep busy close to our home or I'll go insane!!! Any help would be much appreciated. We really would like a new style property with all mod-cons, so I suppose we are looking at the new estates mainly.

I suggest you check out places on www.domain.com.au or www.realestate.com.au you will want to be close to public transport and possibly on the west side of the city (not to far from broadmeadows) I suggest you check out the following inner city suburbs that are close to the city and have great public transport access - Williamstown - Port Melbourne - Kensington / Flemington good luck
