Is it safe to buy a factory reconditioned digital camera?

I would save around $80 , and it is Class A factory reconditioned with 3 months warranty

  1. I buy reconditioned stuff most of the time. If you're going to be unlucky.. even the new one might come defective and you get charged the 15% fee most stores charge.. Down side is the guarantee which lasts less but even then..sometimes the manufacturer offers a full year, check their website etc.
  2. So far I have bought 3 Fuji Finepix Cameras and not one has given me any problems. All were factory reconditions. Go for it
  3. I have a Canon XT (1-1/2 yr old) refurb and it works just fine. Some say that it comes out even better since the techs go over it completely before sending it back. The camera could've been returned for any reason from someone opening the box and changing their mind to slightly using it and the decided to upgrade or change. To Add: What I wouldn't but is a floor/demo model. That is just the model that's been sitting there being handled day in and day out and who knows know may shots have been taked (there's a shutter life).
  4. I have bought many electronic items, including a Canon Digital Camera . I have had no problems at all.
  5. I would not do it to save only $80. The warranty with a brand new camera can be worth an extra $80. Generally speaking, the quality should be at or near a brand new camera.
  6. Yes. I have and I have no regrets. I also worked in manufacturing and anything we redid was up to the original spec. Most returns were minor as far as defects anyway. Save some money.
