Do you know of any at home remedies that will help my dogs ear infection?

I have a 100lb hound dog named Hank. I have had him since he was a baby and he is now 7. He has always been prone to get ear infections. Usually to treat them, I use to flush them with hydrogen peroxide. However recently we ended up at the Vets office with a large bill, due to his ear infection. They gave him "Gentizol" to clear the yeast infection, as well as "Oticalm" to help prevent this from happing in the future. My question is this: I dont mind purchasing the expensive medications for him when we have the money to do so...however there are times when money is tight and I still want to do everything I can to ensure that he is healthy. Do you know of any safe at home remeides that you may use that has helped cut down on ear infections in Large Bred Dogs? Thanks

  1. Colloidal silver.
  2. The only thing i can think of, that MAY help and won't harm him, is his food. My aunt's dog (german shepherd mix) had recurring ear infections and the vet recommended switching his food - turns out he was allergic to something in it and when they switched it, the infections cleared up. You can also clean out the ear with ear wipes daily and check them. Make sure no dirt or bugs get in them. Beyond that you might just have to put aside a little bit of money each month so you have a fund to draw from for this sort of thing. Good luck!
  3. Turmeric is the answer to your question. Mix Turmeric powder with some water ( to form a paste) and apply twice a day to the infected area. Bandage the infected area so the turmeric does not fall off when the paste is dry. Try it out for 3 days you shall be happy with the result.
